The Sony Ericsson X10 Mini Pro combines great messaging properties with useful Smartphonoe technology!
The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro is basically the same as the X10 Mini, aside from its added QWERTY keyboard of course, though the keyboard does add a few grams and a few millimetres here and there it’s barely noticeable. The Mini Pro runs on the Android 1.6 operating system and has a 2.55 inch QVGA touch sensitive display which can manage over 16.7 million colours. It looks good and handles well with its curved chassis, it’s very palmable.
With this ultra pocket-able model Sony Ericsson have focused more on messaging and social networking than anything else, the slide out QWERTY keyboard suggests this and with the TimeScape application in place its never been easier. TimeScape brings together all of your calls, messages, e-mails, tweets and status updates for sites like Twitter and Facebook, it enables you a full overview and lets you manage your networks and reply to messages wherever you may be. There is also an on the go e-mail service which sets up an account sync for your personal or business accounts, this enables you to manage your account anywhere, even on the bus.
Like the regular X10 Mini there is a 5 mega pixel camera, it handles day-to-day snapping well enough and comes complete with auto focus and flash, video capture is not bad either. Geo-tagging is another useful feature; this enables you to give your photos locations using Google Maps. The Android OS delivers other Google based applications too; Google Search, Google Talk and YouTube are in the package along with the Android Market. With the Android Market you have a number of additional applications ready for you to download; it is similar to Apples App store.
The X10 Mini Pro has full Wi Fi coverage and Turbo 3G connectivity, downloading speeds are fast and websites can be rendered in seconds , the phone uses the WebKit web browser which offers standard support for image and video and manages to deliver a reasonably good overall experience. It has Bluetooth technology for File Transfer and wireless headset use and the phone also supports navigation services via Google Maps, WisePilot and the built-in aGPS.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro (a real mouthful, I know) has great entertainment features. The Music player manages your favourite tunes with no problem and has an integrated FM Radio, the interface is simple but effective and the audio file sound quality is smooth and bass-full whether you play it through the phones very capable speaker or via the 3.5mm jack for your favourite headphones to plug-in. The video playback is pretty ok, mostly down to the QVGA screen, it plays at up to 30fps and the player can handle a wide range of different file types including mp4.
The X10 Mini Pro is both a powerful messaging device and a superb compact Smartphone. It supports social networking services and has full Google integration including YouTube; it has a useful digital camera and is very pleasing to the eye with its naturally curved frame.
