Extraction work began near Pe Ell on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, at the largest logjam left by the December 2007 Chehalis River flood. State Department of Natural Resources officials said the jam amounted to 150,000 cubic yards and would present a threat to downstream property if another big storm comes in the fall or winter.
